Sleep Disorders
If we think about sleep at all, most of us think of it as something natural and automatic. In fact few people are "perfect" sleepers. Almost all of us suffer from some sleep disorder at some time of our life. Fortunately for most of us it is a minor irritation rather than a serious problem.
Some fairly common sleep disorders include:
- Jet Lag
A disruption to the sleep cycle brought abut by long distance travel resulting in our internal circadian rhythm becoming out of step. - Sleep Apnea
A potentially life threatening condition that is often associated with severe snoring. - Night Terrors
Very bad dreams that are forgotten on awakening. - Sleep Walking
Somnambulism - technically a partial-arousal parasomnia. - Sleep Paralysis
Waking yet being unable to move. - Sleep Talking
Another parasomnia, known technically as somniloquy.
