Research Finds Fungi in Pillows
The BBC reports on new research from Manchester University that has found a wide variety of fungi in many pillows.
The research looked at ten pillows, five feather and five synthetic, of a variety of ages. All ten pillows analysed contained significant amounts of fungal spores.
Feather pillows had fewer species of fungus than synthetic ones. In particular Aspergillus fumigatus - which can worsen asthma - was more common in the synthetic pillows tested.
