New Medical Procedure Reduces Snoring

Reuters reports on research into a new medical procedure to reduce snoring: the Pillar Palatal Implant System.

During this treatment, one or more 3/4-inch-long plastic rods are inserted into the patient's soft palate (most people have three).

The research - published in the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery journal - suggests that the procedure can significantly reduce snoring and snoring related symptoms.

More research into the long-term effectiveness of the treatment is still needed.
