Dream Guide
Many cultures have the concept of a shamanistic or spirit guide, often this
is a person or animal who also appears in your dreams. You don't need to
follow any spiritual path to make use of this very practical idea.
A dream guide performs a number of useful purposes in lucid dreams:
|
- The presence of the Guide is itself a dream sign that can make you
aware that you are dreaming.
- You can use the Dream Guide as a reality check - attempt to summon him/her/it
into your presence.
- The Guide can be a focus for your subconscious to illuminate knowledge
you might otherwise have suppressed.

You might find that your Dream Guide first appears by chance. In the case of this author,
his Dream Guide was first seen sitting on a fence in a lucid dream. The Guide introduced
himself and explained his function.
Alternatively, you can create your own Guide within a lucid dream. Decide
on what you want the Guide to be and conjure up him/her/it. Do this every time
you have a lucid dream, making the form and character stronger every time.
Try not to make your lucid dreaming Guide too "bland". He/she/it should be unusual
or distinctive in some
way or other - remember, this is the dreamworld. You have the whole
infinity of imagination at your disposal!
