Memory Foam Pillows
Natural pillow fillings such as down remain very popular, however synthetic pillow fillings are becoming increasingly popular. Perhaps the biggest pilow breakthrough in recent years has been the advent of the memory foam pillow.
Types Of Memory Foam Pillow
There are many different varieties and brands of memory foam pillow available on the market. At its simplest, such a pillow just consists of a shaped piece of foam with a removable pillow case.
At the higher end of the market you can buy memory foam pillows that have been sculpted to provide additional support for the neck and head. These are available in various designs depending on the degree of support you require - you can even buy travel pillows for long journeys. As always, if you have a medical condition then consult your doctor.
At the entry level of the market, if your budget is tight or if you're not sure memory foam is right for you, some people sell "partial" memory foam pillows. These consist of a more traditional inner core of some other pillow filling with a layer of memory foam wrapped around the outside. They aren't as luxurious as a true memory foam pillow but can still be effective for some people. Be careful - some partial pillows aren't clearly labelled as such.
Personally, I use a light memory foam pillow on top of a normal pillow. For me this provides the ideal balance between support and comfort.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a medical site. You should always discuss medical matters with your doctor.
