History

Frette began in 1860 as Frette, Payre and Chaboud, based in France. The company quickly expanded with new plants in Italy and by the end of the 19th century had been renamed E. Frette & C. By this stage the company was fully Italian, based in Monza. During this period the company introduced revolutionary new jacquard looms and became an official supplier to the Italian Royal Family.

Frette continued to expand worldwide in the 20th century and in 1999 was sold to Finpart in Italy. Since 2007 the company has been controlled by JH Partners of San Fransisco.

The company is known for its luxury linens which have graced locations such as top hotels, embassies and even the banqueting rooms of the Titanic.
