Simmons Beautyrest

Beautyrest from Simmons is one of the best known US mattress brands with a history stretching back to the 1920s. Today the company continues to specialise in the coiled spring mattresses that made it famous however the Beautyrest prouct range has also embraced modern innovations such as memory foam.

Pocket Coil Springs

At the heart of the Beautyrest mattress is the Pocketed Coil spring system. Spring coils are wrapped in individual "pockets". These coils then react individually to your weight and conform to your individual profile.

A major selling point of the Beautyrest system is that, because the springs respond individually, movement on one part of the mattress has relatively little effect on the other side of the bed. The pocket coil system is often sold as a good buying choice for couples who want to avoid disturbing each other during the night.

Marketing

The Beautyrest individual pocket coils have been the inspiration for some of the company's best known advertising campaigns. In 1955 Simmons demonstrated a circus elephant on one of their mattresses! More recently the well known bowling ball campaign has concentrated on the ability of the individual springs to isolate disturbances.

Buying

Beautyrest products available to buy today are divided into a number of collections: Classic, World Class, Exceptionale (with Two Storey Coil on Coil construction) and NxG series which incorporates an advanced memory foam. Then there is the new Beautyrest Black collection which is itself divided into Firm, Plush, Pillow Top and Plush Pillow Top models.
